Updated 5/13/2012 With Triple Split Changes!

I have the Franklin pedal changes spread across floor pedal P4 and knee lever RKLF (see copedant chart below). One possible advantage of this is that I can hold the low A note while rocking pedal 4. There's also a ton of neat sounds from classical C6 riffs to guitar type vamps that can be played with just RKLF. I've only had all these changes on my guitar at the same time for a few weeks and this is the results so far. I've included many of the 9th string half tone lower riffs here as RKLF handles those too. Of course I could just move the low A change over to P4, restoring some of the Franklin riffs, but I would then lose the benefit of having it separated. The other thing that enters into the equation is that I am out of bell cranks having gone back to the well a few times to buy more and the upgrades don't come cheap! Long term I'd like to try adding the low A back to P4, add the low E to F# on P3 and adding the high G# to G on C6 pedal 7.

With RKLF you can get a nice low drone effect on the 10th string at an A note while having all the other pedal down notes available. You can also make the low string go all the way from A to C# in one smooth motion.

5/13/2012 Updated Tuning With Triple Split Changes!

Couldn't sleep last night (just walked the floor LOL)! Was playing the above "Franklin" split changes in the open position with the bar placed at fret 2 on string 6 to see what would happen if I could put the string 5 and 6 changes on separate pedals. I tried it for a bit and liked what I heard. So now I've got the 5th, 6th and 10th string changes on separate pedals. One advantage of this super split is that you can get more pedal action and more note combinations. You can hold the 5th string note with the full tone lower and rock into and out of the 6th string full tone lower and so on. This also works well with the 10th string full tone lower and you can hear all of these ideas in the first tabbed sound file below. Lowering the 10th string also extends the range of the 10 string E9th tuning. These changes fit well with the 1st and 2nd string raises as is also shown in the sound file below.

I don't have these new changes in ideal pedal locations. They ended up where it was easy to implement them on existing C6 pedals. You may not need these types of changes on a gig in a noisy club. But... on a recording session they do stand out and of of course they make practice a ton more fun and interesting!
